About Fleet Qigong

Fleet Qigong can provide guidance to individuals or groups on the benefits of Qigong and Meditation (mindfulness) in dealing with stress and/or anxiety that many of us deal with in our daily lives. This can cover:

  • Techniques to regulate the breathing to help in relaxation
  • Techniques to relieve tension (particularly in the shoulders)
  • Techniques to enable correct body posture and joint alignment to reduce strain
  • Improving the strength of the legs and back which can help balance and stability

Qigong can be of benefit to individuals involved in sports and martial arts activities.

For updates about the classes go to this page: https://fleetqigong.com/classes-and-updates/.

Individual or small group (maximum of 5 individuals) training can also be provided in our garden if the weather is good.

The Teacher

My name is Kevin and I have a passion for the Chinese internal arts (martial and non-martial) and particularly the art of Qigong. I started my journey of exploration in the internal martial arts (Taiji, Shaolin Ancestors Kung Fu and Qigong) in 2013 and noticed the impact on my health and wellbeing. Based on my experience I decided to share the benefits of the art qigong with others who had similar interests by setting up classes and one day sessions. I am an instructor with the Tai Chi, Qigong and Feng Shui Institute (https://taichi18.com/).

In September 2019 Fleet Qigong for Health and Wellbeing started to run classes in the north Hampshire area in the UK.

If you are interested in qigong or have previous experience of qigong or taiji/tai chi and would like to attend a regular class Fleet Qigong for Health and Wellbeing might be what you are looking for.

As noted above the reason I set up the classes is to give others the opportunity to learn and understand about qigong and hopefully they will spread the word about the benefits.

One thing that is important is to find a teacher/guide that you can relate to and who can help you on your own exploration of qigong.

If that person is me that is good but if I am not right for you do not give up on your search for the right qigong teacher – they are out there somewhere.

Classes

For my classes I am currently focusing on the following qigong forms:

Ba Duan Jin (also known as the Eight Brocades)

Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi (form 1)

Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi (form 2)

Five Element Qigong

Daoist Heavenly Pillars Qigong

Plus Dao Yin and Silk Reeling exercises.

Each class will last for 1 hour and will include time for warm-up, going through the exercises and closing down. The classes will also include some static standing poses.

Some of the key elements to be covered during the classes will be:

  • Correct body posture
  • Alignment of the joints to reduce strain on the hips, knees and ankles
  • Balance and stability
  • Developing the strength of the legs and back
  • Regulation and control of the breath to help in relaxation

During the classes I will provide individual guidance to help each student develop the above points.

The classes will be open to beginners and those who are already experienced in qigong.

For those students who are more experienced in qigong or other energy practices we will look at how the energy (qi) flows within the body.

The classes will be aimed at persons 18 years and above, however, if you would like to bring your son or daughter to a class contact me before the lesson via telephone (07786526361) or email (fleetqigong@gmail.com).

For the classes no special clothing is required, however, it is recommended that loose fitting clothes are better than tight clothes that may restrict your movement. Qiqong can be done barefoot or in shoes such as flat soled trainers as long as they have enough grip to avoid any slipping.
